About the Airbus Global Graduate Programme:

Every year we look for university graduates from around the world to join Airbus. We need people with the aspiration, enthusiasm and the talent to help us move forward and to change the world and deliver our vision to pioneer sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world.

The opportuntity for you:

When you begin your career with us, we accelerate your development through our Airbus Global Graduate Experience. You are part of a 2 year programme where you develop your professional skills, build your networks, locally and internationally, and gain a unique perspective on the world of Airbus. You are part of a global community, so we bring you together once a year for a global graduate conference where you meet your peers, hear from our leaders and learn from the best.

We are hiring the graduates we need, to fill the critical roles for our future.

By the end of the programme, our aim is that you are ready to progress, having already demonstrated your value. You will have developed your skills in an area that is strategically important for Airbus, you will know about the Airbus business, the opportunities, challenges and needs, and you will have learned more about yourself, and what makes you great.

Above all you will have the opportunity to do your best work in an industry that is literally reshaping how we live in our world.

What you will be doing:

You will be on a development pathway to prepare you to be a Engineer for High Lift Aerodynamics (Design & Data Modelling) and Data Science and can expect to be involved in the following;

  • Design the aerodynamic shapes for high-lift devices
  • Deliver aerodynamic models and data for aircraft performance, handling qualities and loads assessments
  • Develop and apply data science methods to solve aerodynamic business tasks (application of data analytics, machine learning/artificial intelligence and model based system engineering)
  • Contribute to and define future aerodynamic processes and technologies to keep Airbus at the forefront of innovation
  • Collaborate across transnational project teams and disciplines to secure multi-disciplinary design solutions meeting customer requirements while delivering on time, cost and quality
  • Provide aerodynamic support to manufacturing plants and airlines
  • To achieve this, our experts will train you in our design and data modelling processes and toolsets including our data science approaches in the field of aerodynamics including numerical and experimental simulation approaches. In addition, you will have the chance to see how aerodynamics shape the overall design of an aircraft from first concepts throughout the entire design through placements in other engineering departments.
  • The Airbus Aerodynamics department is a very international group spread across the European sites of Airbus. International project teams (requiring business travel on average once or twice a month) and international placements are frequent, ensuring the best possible collaboration and providing unique and enriching experiences to the involved individuals.

What we look for

To be a successful applicant to the Airbus Global Graduate Programme, you will need to demonstrate;

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent within a relevant field of study (see below)
  • Maximum of three years relevant work experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication in our business language (English)
  • A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation
  • The ability to be self aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development.

What you will need to apply

Degree type:

  • University degree in Engineering/Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology/Data Science, Physics or equivalent

Specific experience or interests:

  • Knowledge in aerodynamics, mathematics (linear algebra, calculus, statistics and probability) and information technology
  • Skills in aerodynamic numerical simulations, wind tunnel testing, flight testing
  • Expertise in digitalisation topics e.g. data fusion, surrogate modelling, model-based system engineering, big data analytics, machine learning and cloud computing
  • Experience of Machine learning / Artificial Intelligence applications and ability to compose a typical data science workflow
  • Good working knowledge of a programming language (preferably Python or Matlab) and familiarity with data science frameworks like TensorFlow, Keras or Pytorch
